President's Update - October 2021

Hope you are well.

With training and the cricket season scheduled to commence shortly, please see below Club update.

Training / Matches
As previously advised, training will commence as planned on Tuesday 26 October. Training will start from 5.45pm each Tuesday and Thursday evening this season.

The season is on track to start the weekend of 13/14 November as planned. The VTCA will progressively release the fixture for the first month of the season in the weeks ahead, noting that the First and Second XI fixtures have recently been released.

The clubrooms will be open when Victoria reaches 80% double vaccination. The State Government announced today this is now likely to be late October/early November.

At the time of writing, State Government guidelines on the mandatory vaccination requirements for community cricket across training, matches and facilities have not been released. The club will share relevant information with club members when it becomes available.

Captains / Chairman of Selectors
The Club and Senior Coach, Liam Braithwaite, have finalised the following captains for the season ahead:

1sts - Liam Braithwaite
2nds - Hernie Isorena
3rds - Craig Stevens
4ths - Karthik Murthy
5ths - Nathan Wigmore
6ths - Jeremy van Kruining

Ex-player Michael Slinger will be Chairman of Selectors for season 2021/22.

The committee would like to thank outgoing 2nds captain Sheldon D'Souza for his contribution over the last two seasons. 

Further information will be advised on the contact details of the Senior Coach and Captains in the weeks ahead.

Recruiting of players
If you know of anyone who would like to play cricket this season (senior and junior grades), please let them know we are looking for players and/or bring them down to training. New players can also contact me for further information on the club. 

Subscriptions and match fees
As per the link below, yearly subscriptions are now open! Subscriptions remain at $150 this season, as do match fees at $20 per match.

Social event - November
With community facilities scheduled to reopen when Victoria reaches 80% double vaccination in late October/early November as predicted, the Club are planning to hold the first social function on either Saturday 13th or 20th November. More details on the theme and date of the social event will follow in the next couple of weeks.

Slate removal
As a reminder from the 5th September club update, the Club has made the decision to discontinue the "slate" and will now only accept payment for bar purchases, match fees and yearly subscriptions via EFT or cash payment. 
Please note: The Club has also implemented a "positive slate" into its POS system this season and beyond.
