We recently had a farewell function at the Victoria Hotel on Hyde Street for Charlie Carey, a member of the club for in excess of 50 years. The function was well attended by club members and Charlie had a wonderful night catching up with members, and former members who attended on the night. The club gave a small gift to Charlie to thank him for his time and effort over many years. Charlie started at the club as an 11 year old and played under 16 cricket with us. He then played in our first XI as a spinner and a lower order batsman for many years. Charlie has been a committee member and secretary of the club in years passed, demonstrating his desire for the club to progress. Over the last three years Charlie has been the scorer for the First XI, a job that he has relished. He has been around the club most Thursday and Saturday nights during the season. Charlie has moved to Thailand, for personal reasons, and we hope to see him on a visit to the country when he visits his sons, Andrew and Chris, who were both Seddon players. We wish him the best on the next leg of his journey through life, and I am sure he
will follow our progress from afar.
