Mark Webb, Seddon's 2016/17 premiership winning coach, has been recognised by Cricket Victoria as the state's Senior Coach of the Year. Mark took on the voluntary role as senior playing coach at Seddon at the start of last season. He was previously the captain of the Seddon 1st X1. Mark demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities by delegating responsibilities to a number of assistants within the club and, in turn, leading the 1st X1 to the VTCA North West premiership. Mark's individual score of 52 was pivotal in the Dockers' semi-final win against Druids. Throughout the season the club encountered a number of challenges. During this time Mark galvanised the playing group to keep focussing on the task of making finals and eventually winning the Grand Final after making a club record team score of 462. Mark attributes his success as coach to the supportive culture at Seddon. "Coaching a club like Seddon is easy due to all the great people around the place and support network." Mark has stepped down as coach for the 2017/18 season, and Grand Final double centurion Ben Speake has taken the reigns. The Seddon Cricket Club Committee and the wider Club community would like to congratulate Mark on this well deserved accolade. |
