Less than a year after being completed, the new training nets at Seddon Cricket Club have already proven to be one of the best investments in our club's history. Officially finished in September 2025, the nets were in constant use throughout the 2025/26 season, giving our senior, junior and All Abilities programs a first-class place to train.

Getting here took years of work. The club partnered with Maribyrnong City Council and our State  representatives to secure funding through the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund. We're especially grateful to Leigh Davies, Brian Rooney and Jason Grieves, whose advocacy with Council over the past 10-15 years helped make this happen.

The finished facility, with modern practice lanes, floodlighting and upgraded surrounds, has exceeded what we hoped for. It's become one of the busiest spots at the club, hosting multiple sessions a week across all age groups, with the floodlighting letting training run well into the evening.

​The real success isn't the infrastructure itself. It's more players training, more smiles from our juniors, and a lot of pride every time our members walk through the gates.

​Thank you again to the West Gate Neighbourhood Fund, Maribyrnong City Council, our State and Federal representatives, and every volunteer and committee member who stuck with this project over many years.

One season in, it's clear: this project has been a great success, and one the club will benefit from for years to come.
